Key Stage 1 have been learning all about the incredible engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and today we were very lucky to welcome him for a special visit! The children had already prepared some thoughtful and interesting questions to ask him about his amazing engineering work and the fantastic structures he designed. They were full of curiosity and enthusiasm as they discovered more about his achievements and the impact he had on the world. What an exciting way to bring our learning to life! 🌉✨
Thank you to Redruth School and their Sports Leaders for organising a great afternoon of football for our two Y5/6 teams today. Each team put in excellent performances showing great talent and sportsmanship throughout. Eventually, it came down to a closely fought match between Treleigh and Trewirgie to determine who represents the Redruth area at the Peninsula finals, with the latter eventually breaking the deadlock to score and win in the final two minutes. COMMUNITY SPORTING SUCCESS…! Brodie, Jesse, Charlie, Sam and Arlo had a great weekend with their club, Redruth RFC, running out with the first team players. They were also able to play a short game of tag rugby during the half time interval in front of a big crowd. A great experience for the boys and a great day for the club. The bonus...Redruth won!

Win lose or draw, Maisie, Ellis, George and Henry are great friends on and off the pitch and this photo says it all! Both Redruth United and St. Day played a fantastic match with a win for Redruth and man of the match for George from St Day. Well done everyone! ⚽️

UKS2 had an excellent day out at Tintagel Castle learning about the impact of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in Britain for their Curriculum Enquiry Unit phase question, 'Who were the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings?' The children have learnt that interestingly, the Saxons and Vikings had less of an impact in Cornwall (known then as the Dumnonia Kingdom), which largely retained its Celtic heritage throughout the period. Thus contributing towards Cornwall's unique and special identity and history today. Tintagel's medieval ruins are a brilliant example of Cornish heritage, which the children (and adults) were fascinated to experience! What a fantastic place we live in!

The Pastybox Project got underway today for six of our Upper Junior children. They learnt about food hygiene, made and baked their own pasty and designed their ideal creation. They can’t wait for the next session!

COMMUNITY SPORTING SUCCESS…!Evelyn, Brodie, Alfie and Agatha competed in a gymkhana competition on Sunday which involved Tack and Turnout, Egg and Spoon and Baton races.Up against some talented competition, Treleigh came 5th overall. Well done to all involved!

Well done to our Y3 and Y4 footballers who took a part in a football tournament at Redruth School this afternoon. All of the children from across the schools played superbly and showed great sportsmanship. Congratulations to our girls who will now represent the Redruth area at the Peninsula Finals.
