πThis morning the year 10's learnt how to wire up and change a fuse in a plug during their science lesson. They took the plugs apart and rewired the wires correctly, making sure that the three main wires, earth, neutral, live were connected correctly. They really enjoyed the hands-on experience and have started to look in to becoming future electricians. Well done, year 10, for learning a valuable life skill. π #hollinwood#academy#newbridge... This week, our Year 6 children will walk into classrooms carrying far more than pencils and books. They will carry nerves.Pressure.Hope.Determination.Tiredness.Resilience.Many of them will carry worries we cannot always see.So, before the papers begin, I want our children to know this:You are already enough. These tests do not measure your kindness when a friend is upset. They do not measure your creativity, humour, imagination or courage. They do not measure how hard you have worked to overcome challenges that others may never even notice. They do not measure the progress some of you have made simply by believing in yourselves again. And they certainly do not define your future. What SATs can show is how much you have learned so far. They can reflect perseverance, practice and growth. They can demonstrate the incredible effort that has happened over many years, not just this week.Your value will never be waiting at the bottom of a test paper. As staff, we have watched our Year 6 children grow into thoughtful, funny, resilient young people. We have seen children discover confidence, find their voice, take risks, and support one another through difficult moments. To our families: thank you.Thank you for the reading at home, the encouragement, the routines, the patience and the reassurance. Behind every child walking into school this week, we know is a network of adults willing them on.To our staff: thank you for the relentless commitment, care and belief you pour into our amazing children every single day. Exam outcomes don't always tell the full story of what we do at Hollinwood Academy, because the real work is in the confidence built, the relationships formed and the futures shaped for every single one of our unique young people. Finally, to our Year 6 children: Be proud of yourselves already.Go into this week knowing that we are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. In every class and pathway, you are supported, believed in and cared for.Try your best.Take a breath.Read carefully. When this week is over, remember that your character and kindness defines who you are - and you all have so much to offer the world.Good luck, Year 6.We are all rooting for you!β€οΈ#hollinwood#academy#Update... Happy Friday. Although it's been a shorter week, it has certainly been a very busy one across school. There has been lots of fun, purposeful learning taking place alongside focused preparation for SAT...
π This term so far in afterschool club has been amazing. We have made fruit kebabs and done gingerbread decorating. The weather has been glorious some days so we have took full advantage of it and played outside on the swing, drawing in the playground with chalks and having great fun playing with spray bottles and water blaster having water fights. Lovely to see the sun out and the children having fun.βοΈ #hollinwood#academy#Update... See MoreSee Less

π« New Bridge College Visit Hollinwoood Academy for Transition Event.π The visit was designed to help students feel confident and prepared as they begin the next stage of their education. New Bridge College staff spoke to pupils about the differences between school and college, the wider opportunities available, and the support systems in place to help students succeed both academically and personally.π¬ A real highlight of the visit was hearing from Kurt, a former Hollinwoood Academy pupil who is now thriving at New Bridge College. Kurt spoke honestly and positively about his own transition experience, sharing what a typical college day looks like and how independence increases compared to school. He reassured students that it is normal to feel nervous at first, but explained how quickly those nerves turn into excitement once you settle into college routines.π Kurt also talked about the variety of courses on offer and the opportunities to meet new people and develop skills that prepare students for future careers. He had even prepared a powerpoint!π€© Students were eager to ask questions about timetables, expectations, support from tutors, and enrichment at college. The discussion helped remove any worries and allowed pupils to picture themselves successfully starting college later this year.ππ» We would like to thank New Bridge College and Kurt for taking the time to visit Hollinwoood Academy and for providing such a valuable and reassuring experience for our students. Visits like this play an important role in supporting smooth transitions and helping our pupils feel prepared, informed, and excited about their next steps.π We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with New Bridge College and supporting our students as they move confidently towards their futures.β€οΈ #hollinwood #academy #Update ...
