βΉοΈ I am sure that you have all read with sadness about the number of water related deaths of children during the recent hot weather. Please be assured that this is something we speak to the children about often, and is one of the reasons why we are so passionate about continuing to swim throughout their time at Spring Brook. However, these recent deaths have been children who could swim well, but unfortunately had not understood/remembered how the cold water, in such high temperatures, can cause water-shock and subsequent drowning. The attached leaflet will support you in reiterating these conversations at home. We know that our children think they are invincible but it's important that they receive this information and reminders about it frequently if we are wanting them to remember when it matters most. πΏπ¦ Class 6 had a fantastic time in the woods on Monday using the Merlin Bird ID app! π±Jenson discovered that one of the bird boxes was home to a family of blue tits.π£πEveryone stayed very still and quiet, and we were lucky enough to watch the parent birds coming and going, bringing food back to their hungry babies. Meanwhile, Rory spent a lot of time carefully planning and building a shelter.πΏποΈHe showed great creativity and perseverance, taking care with every detail before proudly inviting all of his friends in to see it! It was a wonderful opportunity to observe wildlife up close and learn more about the birds that live in our local environment. π³#springbrook#academy#lower... See MoreSee Less
Teddy really enjoyed Forest School.πΏ He learned how to start a fire using flint and steel, which he was very proud of.π₯ He also discovered the Merlin Bird app and became very interested in finding and identifying different birds. π¦ By the end of the afternoon, he had spotted around 8 different birds and was able to recognise magpies and wrens from their sounds.πΆπ€He also pointed out some magpies in the trees and managed to take a photo of one.πΈ#newbridge#school#Update...
