We’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our former students, Anna, who was selected to represent England in the 3000m steeplechase at this year’s Loughborough International—a key event in the early outdoor athletics season, where athletes compete for form, qualifying standards, and valuable championship experience. 🏃‍♀️🔥
Representing at such a prestigious competition alongside some of the best athletes from England, Wales, Scotland, Loughborough Students, and GB&NI Under 20s is a fantastic achievement in itself.
The Loughborough International is known for showcasing future stars, with athletes competing on the pathway towards major championships such as the Commonwealth Games and European Championships, making this an incredible milestone.
Congratulations on a fantastic performance—we’ll be cheering you on for what comes next! 💙 #BringingOutTheBest #AlumniSuccessImage attachmentImage attachment+1Image attachment

We celebrated not just academic achievements, but the friendships, growth and experiences that have made our Year 13 cohort so special. It has been wonderful to watch them flourish into confident young adults, ready for the exciting opportunities ahead.

As they begin their exams, we wish each and every one of them the very best of luck. #year13leavers ... See MoreSee Less

🏉TOUCH RUGBY TOURNAMENT🏉
Following the success of last year’s event, The Friends of The Howard are excited to bring back the Touch Rugby Tournament, this time right here at school. Expect a brilliant evening of friendly competition, community spirit, and plenty of fun.

We’re inviting teachers, parents, carers, students - and siblings (Year 7 and up) to take part. Whether you play regularly or just fancy giving it a go, it’s a relaxed and friendly way to get involved.

Teams will be made up of around 10 players, either all adults or students of similar ages. Boys and girls can take part, and mixed teams are very welcome. As it’s touch rugby, there’s no tackling - just speed, skill, teamwork, and a lot of good humour.

🍔BBQ and BAR🍷🍻
This year we’ll also have a BBQ and a bar on site, so even if you’re not playing, come along to cheer from the sidelines and enjoy the evening with the school community.

TOMBOLA🎟️
We’ll also be running a tombola and would be very grateful for any prize donations. Ideas include bottles of wine, chocolates, beauty products, sports accessories, stationery, games, anything suitable for adults or students. Please drop off any donations at school reception or get in touch on friends@thehoward.thpt.org.uk

Book your place(s) by emailing friends@thehoward.thpt.org.uk

HELPERS
We will also need a team of helpers on the day to run the BBQ, Bar, Tombola etc. If you can help even for just half an hour or so, it would be a huge help.

Our Sixth Form students have been making a fantastic impact this week through their RAG Week activities!
They’ve shown creativity, amazing costumes and generosity while raising money for a range of charities from Neuroblastoma UK, Mary’s Meals and more. A brilliant example of leadership and compassion in action. 💙👏Image attachmentImage attachment

Quiz Night This Saturday – last call for more teams!
Just a final reminder about The Friends’ Quiz Night this Saturday (21 March). It’s set to be a fun, relaxed evening in the Cyber Café with great food, a bar, raffle prizes to be won and plenty of friendly competition.

Doors open 6:00pm | Tickets £15 (includes meal)

You can come as a team (up to 8) or join one on the night.

We do need a couple more tables booked to go ahead - otherwise, we’ll unfortunately have to cancel.

Last year’s event raised nearly £2,000 — enough to buy a VEO camera for the PE department. All funds raised this year will go directly back to supporting students across all departments.

We’d love to still make this happen!

Happy World Book Day!

Reading opens doors to imagination, knowledge and opportunity, and it plays a vital role in supporting the learning, mental health and future success of children and young people. Encouraging a love of reading from an early age helps build confidence, creativity and lifelong learning habits.

As we celebrate World Book Day, it’s also a great reminder that 2026 is the National Year of Reading, with initiatives such as The Times Get Britain Reading campaign highlighting the importance of helping more children and teenagers discover the joy of books.

Today we’re celebrating reading in all its forms and encouraging our students to pick up a book, explore new stories and keep developing a lifelong love of reading.
