Our Sixth Form students have been making a fantastic impact this week through their RAG Week activities!
They’ve shown creativity, amazing costumes and generosity while raising money for a range of charities from Neuroblastoma UK, Mary’s Meals and more. A brilliant example of leadership and compassion in action. 💙👏Image attachmentImage attachment

Quiz Night This Saturday – last call for more teams!
Just a final reminder about The Friends’ Quiz Night this Saturday (21 March). It’s set to be a fun, relaxed evening in the Cyber Café with great food, a bar, raffle prizes to be won and plenty of friendly competition.

Doors open 6:00pm | Tickets £15 (includes meal)

You can come as a team (up to 8) or join one on the night.

We do need a couple more tables booked to go ahead - otherwise, we’ll unfortunately have to cancel.

Last year’s event raised nearly £2,000 — enough to buy a VEO camera for the PE department. All funds raised this year will go directly back to supporting students across all departments.

We’d love to still make this happen!

Today we hosted our annual Wellness Festival – a fantastic opportunity for our students to focus on their wellbeing, resilience and personal development.
Events like this are so important in supporting young people’s mental health, helping them build positive habits, manage challenges and feel confident in themselves both in and out of school.
A huge thank you to all the organisations who joined us today and shared their expertise and support – your contribution makes a real difference to our students. 💙👏Image attachmentImage attachment+4Image attachment

Happy World Book Day!

Reading opens doors to imagination, knowledge and opportunity, and it plays a vital role in supporting the learning, mental health and future success of children and young people. Encouraging a love of reading from an early age helps build confidence, creativity and lifelong learning habits.

As we celebrate World Book Day, it’s also a great reminder that 2026 is the National Year of Reading, with initiatives such as The Times Get Britain Reading campaign highlighting the importance of helping more children and teenagers discover the joy of books.

Today we’re celebrating reading in all its forms and encouraging our students to pick up a book, explore new stories and keep developing a lifelong love of reading.

What an incredible achievement for our U15 Girls’ Football Team! ⚽️
Reaching the Quarter-Finals of the National Cup and finishing among the top eight teams in the country is an exceptional accomplishment. This milestone reflects their commitment, teamwork and determination throughout a competition that included a series of outstanding performances against strong opponents. The team faced a very strong side in the quarter final match. Although they lost, they worked tirelessly until the final whistle. Just as impressive was their attitude afterwards — positive, supportive of one another, and proud of how far they had come.
We couldn’t be prouder of this squad. Their performance and their character truly deserve recognition. 💙👏

✨ A Level French Cooking Session! ✨👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
What a fantastic afternoon with our A Level French students! Last week, after school, we were lucky to welcome a professional chef who guided them through the art of making delicious profiteroles.
The challenge? Students had to follow the recipe step by step… entirely in French!
They rose to the occasion brilliantly — just look at the impressive number of perfectly made choux pastries in the photos! 👏
And of course, the best part… the tasting! 😋
Bravo to all for your hard work and amazing results! ⭐️

Led by the School Librarian, student librarians, a parent community library assistant and sixth form volunteers, The Howard held a ‘Book Taster’ in the school library last week for Year 5 pupils from Eastwick School. The session promoted a love of reading, inspired them with all the resources a secondary school library has to offer and helped familiarise them with their local secondary school.
The children enjoyed book related activities, talked about their reading interests, and looked at a selection of KS3 books before meeting the principal, Mr Baker, and having a tour of the library. They left carrying their work along with the book grand prize for their school library, bookmarks, treats, and a list of book recommendations to further whet their reading appetites.
