📚🌟 We’ve achieved Silver! 🌟📚

We are absolutely delighted to share that Ludlow Junior School has achieved the Silver Southampton School Reading Charter Award! Four of our wonderful pupils proudly attended the awards ceremony to celebrate this fantastic achievement. They were treated to an inspiring talk from author M.G. Leonard, who shared what inspires her writing and her fascinating love of beetles! 🪲 The children even had the opportunity to meet her in person and get a book signed – a very special experience for our young readers! Achieving Silver has been a real team effort. We have worked hard to ensure that our curriculum gives children opportunities to explore a wide range of genres and that our libraries reflect the diversity of our world and the breadth of our wider curriculum.Most importantly, we have been working to help our children see themselves as readers, develop their own reading identities and make the most of every opportunity to read for pleasure. ❤️A huge thank you to our families for all the support you give reading at home. 🏛️ What a fantastic Roman Day we had in Year 4! 🏛️🛡️

We started the day with a Roman fashion show, showing off our incredible costumes and brilliant homemade swords and shields! We learnt how to draw Roman soldiers and discovered all about the fierce and fearless Boudicca. ⚔In Maths, we explored Roman numerals before putting our skills to the test with colour-by-number activities and a code breaker to reveal the answer to a Roman-themed joke! 🔢In the afternoon, we took part in Roman invasion games, learning how the Romans managed to conquer so many different areas.We had a fantastic time bringing our Roman topic to life. 🚀 Year 5’s Fantastic Trip to Winchester Science Centre! 🔭

Year 5 had a fantastic day today, exploring the many exciting exhibits at Winchester Science Centre! The children had the brilliant opportunity to meet an astronomer, ask questions and deepen their understanding of space. 🎨 Year 6 Art – Inspired by Alberto Giacometti! 🗿

Our Year 6 artists have been busy researching the work of sculptor Alberto Giacometti, exploring his distinctive style and techniques.
