Reading at the Heart of Ludlow Junior School 📚❤️Last week, Ludlow Junior School was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated our love of reading! On Thursday, we were delighted to welcome author Andy Seed, who delivered a bespoke talk for each year group about life as an author and the exciting content of his books. The children loved hearing about how stories are created and where ideas come from. One of the highlights of the visit was when Andy revealed a full-size replica sarcophagus! It was a fantastic experience and truly inspiring for our young readers and writers - thank you, Andy!On Friday, the celebrations continued with our World Book Day dress-up day. Children and staff came to school in wonderful costumes and wearing red, reflecting our theme for the day. We began with a special assembly celebrating the joy and importance of reading. Together, we explored the beautiful book Every Little Kindness by Marta Bartolj, learning how small acts of kindness can spread further than we might ever realise.Inspired by the story’s striking artwork and its use of the colour red, each class then created their own book titled 'Every Ludlow Kindness'. These class books captured the spirit of kindness within our school community and showed just how creative our pupils can be.And that wasn’t all! Throughout the day, every pupil had the opportunity to visit the 'Ludlow Book Emporium'. Our fantastic Reading Ambassadors took on the role of booksellers, helping their fellow pupils choose a book to take home. Using a special token they received on the day, every child left with their very own book! What a wonderful two days celebrating reading, creativity, and kindness at Ludlow Junior School! 📖✨ ... Last week, our children proudly celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week. This year's theme was "This is my place" which focussed on celebrating what makes us unique as well as understanding how connecting with others has a positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing.💚As part of the learning, each child created their own individual mosaic tile. We explored how every unique piece can come together to form something bigger and stronger – just like our community. The activity helped the children reflect on how forming connections with others supports our sense of belonging and positive mental health. We are so proud of the thoughtful discussions and creativity shown by all of our pupils! ✨ ...
