This morning the year 10's learnt how to wire up and change a fuse in a plug during their science lesson. They took the plugs apart and rewired the wires correctly, making sure that the three main wires, earth, neutral, live were connected correctly. They really enjoyed the hands-on experience and have started to look in to becoming future electricians. Well done, year 10, for learning a valuable life skill. πŸ‘ #hollinwood #academy #newbridge ... See MoreSee Less

This week, our Year 6 children will walk into classrooms carrying far more than pencils and books.

They will carry nerves.Pressure.Hope.Determination.Tiredness.Resilience.Many of them will carry worries we cannot always see.So, before the papers begin, I want our children to know this:You are already enough. These tests do not measure your kindness when a friend is upset. They do not measure your creativity, humour, imagination or courage. They do not measure how hard you have worked to overcome challenges that others may never even notice. They do not measure the progress some of you have made simply by believing in yourselves again. And they certainly do not define your future. What SATs can show is how much you have learned so far. They can reflect perseverance, practice and growth. They can demonstrate the incredible effort that has happened over many years, not just this week.Your value will never be waiting at the bottom of a test paper. As staff, we have watched our Year 6 children grow into thoughtful, funny, resilient young people. We have seen children discover confidence, find their voice, take risks, and support one another through difficult moments. To our families: thank you.Thank you for the reading at home, the encouragement, the routines, the patience and the reassurance. Behind every child walking into school this week, we know is a network of adults willing them on.To our staff: thank you for the relentless commitment, care and belief you pour into our amazing children every single day. Exam outcomes don't always tell the full story of what we do at Hollinwood Academy, because the real work is in the confidence built, the relationships formed and the futures shaped for every single one of our unique young people. Finally, to our Year 6 children: Be proud of yourselves already.Go into this week knowing that we are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. In every class and pathway, you are supported, believed in and cared for.Try your best.Take a breath.Read carefully. When this week is over, remember that your character and kindness defines who you are - and you all have so much to offer the world.Good luck, Year 6.We are all rooting for you!❀️#hollinwood #academy #Update ...
