We had much better weather today,So short walk outside was met with a Hip Hip Hooray!We wished each other good morning,Despite the fresh air a few of us were still yawning!Before break we had some Sensory play,Nothing like lights, sounds and bubbles to make ones day!Along came break time plates roll out with snacks adorning,Taste better nicked was a sentiment so some tried pawning!Cooking was on the menu for the day,We made spooky cookies and they almost got eaten straight away!Dancing was our last session we got the students up and preforming,Spooky songs mixed with a big BOO too without warning!A fun filled Halloween day in IB today!Over and Out! ... KPT KS4 have had an extremely busy and successful first half term, with students working incredibly hard towards their individual targets. Here are some of the highlights from the past eight weeks:

In Community Living, our topic has been The Environment. Students have enjoyed exploring the outdoor environment by taking photographs of things they can see and then recreating these images in their own creative ways. They have developed their understanding of how to care for the environment and demonstrated excellent teamwork whilst helping to tidy the playground. The class has also been learning about recycling. Students have been introduced to new signs linked to the topic, practised sorting rubbish into the correct recycling bins, and worked together to create a fantastic classroom display to showcase their learning and achievements. During our Morning Routine sessions, students have been developing their understanding of different types of weather. They have worked hard to associate weather symbols and objects of reference with various weather conditions and have successfully completed thirteen weather-focused activities on the Seesaw platform. Alongside this, students have been learning to identify and communicate their feelings, making links to the Zones of Regulation to support their emotional awareness and self-regulation. They have also been practising and developing their fine motor skills through a variety of engaging activities and different sensory mediums. In Life Skills, students have been learning about how to look after their bodies and the importance of personal hygiene. They have been identifying a range of toiletries and recognising where they are used on the body. The class has also developed their understanding of effective handwashing, including why it is important, when hands should be washed, and how good hand hygiene helps to keep us healthy. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work, enthusiasm, and progress the students have shown throughout this half term. They have embraced new learning opportunities, developed important life skills, and continued to grow in confidence and independence. Today was a very special day in class as we held the raffle for our beautifully decorated pumpkin. Throughout the week, pupils worked incredibly hard to transform it into a sparkling masterpiece, carefully bedazzling it with a dazzling array of colourful gemstones.

Excitement filled the room as our guest of honour, Mr. Thompson kindly drew the winning ticket from the hat. When the lucky student's name was announced, the classroom erupted with cheers, smiles, and happy squeals of delight. HB-LST have had a great half term. All students have settled well into the class and have developed positive relationships with both staff and peers. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they engage in daily activities and routines.

In Living Skills, students have been learning about personal care, developing their understanding of self-care routines and the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and independence wherever possible.In Maths, the focus has been on numbers and shapes. Students have been exploring number recognition, counting activities, and identifying a range of 2D shapes through practical and engaging learning experiences.In English, students have enjoyed a sensory story based on "Giraffes Can't Dance." They have actively participated in a variety of sensory activities linked to the story, helping to develop their communication, attention, and engagement skills.In Humanities, students have been taking part in blow painting activities to support the development of their fine motor skills. They have enjoyed exploring different colours and creative techniques while strengthening the skills needed for mark-making and early writing development.We have had a busy but fantastic half term!
